Inspiration was gathered by looking through a collection of vintage type foundry books. I am attracted to thick, grotesque and blocky fonts.
Milford Mills Type Foundry was founded in Wilmington Delaware in 1880 and the logo needed need to reflect typefaces used at that time.
Sketching started after observing letter forms and possible container shapes, fleurons and dingbats.
The final solution is a mashup of some of the roughs along with new elements.
